gobble gobble

Today will be a relatively good day for me. Let's call it a pretty big change-up from what I'm used to: relaxing (doesn't happen often), getting dressed up/nice (doesn't happen often), and eating real food that is healthy for you in some ways--or at least isn't fast food or full of sodium (doesn't happen often).

Have a fantastic day.
Don't eat too much.
Just because it's Thanksgiving doesn't mean you should over-eat and contribute to obesity in America. =P

Ok so now a science fact from yours truly:
Tryptophan in turkey does not make you tired. It's an amino acid that gets converted eventually into serotonin, which gives your body a calming effect. But still...the reason you get "tired" is because you are full. It takes a great deal of energy to digest a large meal so when your stomach is full, blood is directed away from other organ systems, including your nervous system. The result? You will feel the need to catch some zZz's after any big meal, particularly if it is high in fats and carbohydrates.

Yay biochem and physiology! My life!

But really everyone have a great day or at least try to relax on this day off. Everyone deserves it!

That being said....Happy Thanksgiving.
